The ROOM TO BREATHE - series included 9 photos a video-installation (in Galleri Sinne, Helsinki) and a site specific installation (Galleria Å, Turku).
The inspiration for the project was found in a fascination of interior ceilings. People tend to fill their homes and other spaces with all kinds of materia; furniture, rugs, decorations etc. Only the ceiling is left somewhat empty and neutral. Our homes are built in using standard measurements; we are used to see that windows, doors, power sockets etc. at a certain height, in a certain way.
By turning everything "up side down" I wanted to create an escape from the chaos that surrounds us - a "Room to Breathe" - free from materia and from the sometimes too familiar and customary.
